Description

Portrait of Josef Graf Radetzky (1766 - 1858). Circa 1855. Salt print, round shape, diameter 10,5 cm. Mounted to original board (slight foxing and soiling), with photographer's blindstamp below the image on the mount.
The famous 'Radetzky Marsch' by Johann Strauss (Vater), composed in 1848, was dedicated to Josef Graf Radetzky and is still performed every year by the Viennese Philharmonic Orchestra on New Year's Day. - A rich dark print in near excellent condition.
