Three drawings: A young lady, in white dress with blue sash, frilled collar and billowing gauze veil from her upswept hair dressed in ringlets and decorated with flowers, signed 'Lυ Arlaud' (bottom centre); together with an elderly gentleman, in brown coat, white shirt, powdered hair; together with a young gentleman called Mr Perignon, in orange coat, red waistcoat, tied cravat, the reverse inscribed 'M Perignon'
on card
oval, 5¼ in. (133 mm.) high; rectangular, 4 3/8 x 4 1/8 in. (112 x 105 mm.); 5¼ x 3¼ in. (133 x 83 mm.), respectively, gilt-wood frames (3)

Provenance

According to the inscription in Danish on the reverse of the former:
François Arlaud (1779-1862), Sardinian Consul in Helsingör, the artist's elder son.
Inherited by Pierre-Auguste Arlaud (1828-1914), son of the latter.
Sold after the death of the latter by his niece Elna-Elise Tvede née Arlaud (b. 1875) to Ove Ringberg (1883-1922), director of the Danish Landmandsbanken.
The estate of Ove Ringberg (1883-1922); Copenhagen, Winkel & Magnussen, 5 September 1924, lot 599 (to Mathilde-Emma Arlaud [b. 1873], elder sister of Elna-Elise Arlaud).
