EXHIBITION:
There is an old exhibition label on the reverse from one of the original 'Society of Six' Exhibitions in Oakland, 1923-1928. On the label, the painting is referred to as 'Interior'.

The painters in the Society of Six often met at Selden Gile's house for dinners and discussions of their work. Because of this, Gile's home was often referred to as the 'Chow House' and was an integral part of these painter's lives.
