Original Lowcountry Oil on Board "Rice Trunk in the Evening" by Katherine Muschick Schneider (1951-2017). With a couple of Snowy Egrets perched on a Rice Trunk Gate. Painted at the SC Santee Coastal Reserve in 2014. Wood Frame. Measures 20"x24". In frame 19"x17"x2". Weight 6 pds. Katherine M. Schneider was a painter, sculptor, and printmaker with over 35 years of experience. Her art training includes painting and printmaking at the College of Charleston, study in New York with acclaimed painter Daniel Greene, and two years study in the studio of Charleston sculptor, Willard Hirsch. Schneider's paintings have been exhibited in museums and galleries including The Columbia Museum of Art, The Gibbes Museum of Art, The Etheridge Center for Fine Arts, and The Halsey Institute for Contemporary Art. She was a member of the Portrait Society of America and had been juried into membership in the Oil Painters of America. Her paintings are in corporate and private collections in Germany, Mexico, and the United States. The artist's oil painting "Evening Light on Hampton Plantation" was selected by The University of South Carolina Press for the cover of a new publication of the works of Archibald Rutledge (1883 - 1973) the first Poet Laureate of South Carolina.
