LUKIAN VASILIEVICH POPOV (RUSSIAN 1873-1914), "A Spiritual Landscape," oil on canvas, 21 5/8 x 34 1/4 in. (55 x 87 cm.), signed and dated lower left. Lukian Popov was one of the famous group of 'Peredvizhniki" or 'Itinerant' Artists. He studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts from 1896-1901, and was a member of the Itinerant Art Exhibitions since 1903, and the Kuindzhi Union since 1905. Popov exhibited with the Peredvizhniki from 1900 to 1915.
