22.5" x 28", unsigned, provenance, excellent period Arts & Crafts style carved frame. Van Gorder studied with Chase in New York, and in Paris, at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. He exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, National Academy of Design, Brooklyn Art Association, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, and the Paris Salon. Van Gorder worked in Toledo, Ohio for some time. His specialties were landscapes and street scenes, painted in the U.S. and in France.
