NOTE

Associated with the New German Expressionist movement of Post-war Germany, Eugen Schöneberck produced a number of expressionistic and violently visceral paintings, similar to those of Anselm Kiefer and Georg Baselitz, based on the human figure and painted with 'primitive' directness. Rejecting the established modern art forms of the time, such as Pop Art, Schöneberck's art associates itself with the grotesque, where the world of truth and beauty stands for the strange, the different beyond all orders and boundaries.
