NOTE

This Leiden painter, strongly influenced by his townsman Jan van Goyen, had a very short career - dated paintings are only known between 1639 and 1646. Egmond, the subject of this picture, is on the North Sea coast a few miles west of Leiden.

Sold with the certificate of Dr. Walther Bernt, dated 27 July 1963.
