CATALOGUE NOTE

The work is a portrait of Francis Newton Souza based upon a photograph of the the artist taken when he lived in London. Souza had added other faces to the original photograph and titled the work on the reverse "Souza and Friends". In the current work Manu Parekh has focused on the figure of Souza and the other figures become secondary.
