Description

Copper-engraved folding map. 36x56.1 cm. (14"x21 3/4 ") plus margins.

The "earliest map of the Oregon interior with a pretense of accuracy." Wheat states that the map "represented a real advance, and it was made from personal observations." Originally bound in Samuel Parker's "Journal of an Exploring Tour beyond the Rocky Mountains" and still tipped-on the original blank leaf.
