Friberg's series Almost There captures four young professionals floating in a swimming pool. Each is dressed in a business suit, the ultimate symbol of power and control, yet it is clear they do not command their environment. None of the men swim or show much emotion, but rather float aimlessly in the dark blue pool. This 'fish out of water' (or in this case 'businessman in water') motif makes a comic wink at the idea of the lost yuppie in modern society.

Friberg studied at the Royal University College of Fine Arts, Stockholm. Her work has been included in dozens of exhibitions worldwide, notably Global Feminisms at the Brooklyn Museum, New York in 2007. Her work is held in numerous private and institutional collections, including The Buhl Collection, New York; The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington DC; Fotomuseum Winterthur; and Moderna Museet, Stockholm. Friberg lives and works in Stockholm.
