MARTIN BORMANN
(1900 - 1945?) Head of the Nazi Party Chancellery and private secretary to Adolf Hitler, by the end of World War II Bormann had become second only to Hitler himself in terms of real political power. Good content T.L.S. on blind-embossed NSDAP letterhead, 1p. 4to., Berneck, July 27, 1937 to Hitler's aide, Obergruppenfuhrer Wilhelm Bruckner in Bayreuth, scene of an annual festival of composer Richard Wagner's works, so much favored by Hitler. Borman writes, in part: "...I inform you that the Fuhrer does not wish to reserve rooms in Berneck this year, as he could, if necessary, take an appointment in Bayreuth...Heil Hitler!...".
