Notes

Painted in 1921
This work is accompanied by a typed letter from the artist dated '22' describing horse racing in general attached to the reverse of the painting.

Eurythmic was bred in New South Wales. by the Thompson family of Widden fame and was purchased by the Chairman of the Western Australian Turf Club, Ernest Lee Steere, at the Sydney yearling sales of 1918.

At his retirement as a six year-old, Eurythmic had accumulated thirty-one wins and ten placings from forty-seven starts. He had well earned his name of 'the best from the west', retiring as the highest prizemoney earner of his day, eclipsing the legendary Carbine's mark. He won the Caulfield and Sydney Cups and numerous weight-for-age races.

He is one of the select group of only twenty-eight horses inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame.
