MARTIN VAN BUREN Partly-printed D.S. as President, 1p. folio, Washington, July 15, 1839, a scallop-top ship's paper for the "Brig Rebecca Groves, with cargo of "...one hundred twenty-eight tons...with one gun..." and a crew of sixteen men. Bearing countersignature of Secretary of State JOHN FORSYTH. Irregularly trimmed at sides and margin, costing a small portion of the paper seal but not affecting signatures, which remain fine and bold.
