Lot 93: Mattheus Derk Knip (1785-1845)

Kuyvenhoven, De Familie Knip, Zwolle, 1988, nos. 65-6. The brothers Mattheus Derk and Josephus Augustus drew large landscapes in bodycolor and probably sold them as finished works of art. Only very few of their works are signed and their style is difficult to distinguish. Another drawing by Mattheus Dirk Knip similar in handling to these was sold at Christie's New York, 30 January 1998, lot 400.
