Drawing on his experience as a cotton farmer, Merritt Mauzey completed a comprehensive series of lithographs on the cotton industry. Most of these lithographs were black and white, but occasionally Mauzey would hand-color the print for added dramatic effect. This lithograph was donated to the Nicholson Memorial Public Library (Garland, Texas) by the artist. This image also appears in the book The Land of the Beginning Again: The Romance of the Brazos, by Julien Hyer, illustrations by Merritt Mauzey.
