Provenance: The Estate of Michael Tyzack.

Having studied at the Slade and painted for a year in Paris, Sheffield born Michael Tyzack spent much of the late 1950's and early 1960's pursuing a career as a jazz trumpeter. He won the first prize in the prestigious John Moores' Liverpool Exhibition in 1965, and continued to exhibit in both England and the USA over the next two decades. Following a move to Iowa in 1971 he was appointed Professor of Fine Arts at the College of Charleston, where he lived until his death in 2007. His works are included in the collections of the Tate in London, the Gallery of Ontatio in Toronto and the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, amongst many others.
