OLLIE JOHNSTON is one of the legendary animators known as Walt Disney's Nine Old Men. From the late 1930s through his retirement four decades later, Ollie brought to life such unforgettable Disney characters as Pinocchio, Bambi and Thumper, Alice in Wonderland, Mr. Smee and Baloo the Bear. Together with fellow animator Frank Thomas, Ollie has written four authoritative books, including the definitive study, Disney Animation: The Illusion of Life. Profiled in the 1995 documentary Frank and Ollie, Ollie was named a Disney Legend in 1989.
