MILLIGA NAPALTJARRI BORN CIRCA 1921 KULKARTA 1992 91 by 61 cm Synthetic polymer paint on canvas Bears artist's name 'Milliga', size and Warlayirti Artists catalogue number 14/92 together with gallery label on the reverse Provenance: Painted in 1992 at Wirrimanu (Balgo Hills), for Warlayirti Artists Gallery Gabrielle Pizzi, Melbourne The Sam Barry Collection Exhibited: Gallery Gabrielle Pizzi, Melbourne, 1992 This painting is sold with an accompanying certificate from Warlayirti Artists, Balgo Hills that reads in part: 'Artist's Country The painting shows the area where the artist spent the first part of her life. Along with the other women she would go out to collect foods from the surrounding bush, such as: warlku, mangarta and kamitji. The trees such as karrulkurra were also a good source for the making of implements. There were soakages in amongst the sandhills near which the artist's family used to camp.'
