Nancy Boren (b. 1955), "Texas Cowboy" oil on Canvas: 36"H x 24"W; Frame: 42.5"H x 30.5"W. Signed lower left, "Nancy Boren"; signed, titled and dated 2011 verso. Nancy Boren comments: "This Texas Cowboy is surrounded by the tools of his trade, most of it well-used and worn. An amazing assortment of items collects in tack rooms on old, established ranches. From an artistic point of view, I overlapped the cowboy's white shirt , the white pail, and the woolly chaps to create a large area of light color in the top half of the painting. The left side of his black hat flows into the shadow behind him; paintings pack more punch when darks and lights are connected to form large interesting patterns. This cowboy is one of those fortunate souls who gets to go to work each day with their dog, and his dog thinks he hung the moon!"
