Melanie Le Doulceur, facing right in white silk dress with purple silk surcoat with ruffled border, white gauze scarf tied around her neck, elaborate lace and green ribbon headgear in her powdered upswept hair signed 'LaVreinc' (lower left) oval, 1 13/16 in. (46 mm.) high, gold frame with glazed hair reverse NOTES A handwritten old note on the reverse indicates that the sitter was the mother of the Marquise d'Aramon (+ 1793 at Aix-la-Chapelle).
