Expert assessment:

By Prof. Dr. Neidhardt, Dresden, dated October 2013

The small oil study of the missing painting "Triumph der Natur" (Triumph of Nature) depicts the ramp by the lake of Moritzburg with part of its balustrade and two stone
parforce horn blowers. The main work "Triumph der Natur", highly appreciated by critiques at the time, prompted bold interpretations as to the transcience and hideousness of Baroque architecture when presented at the Saxonian Art Association. As a consequence of the great enthusiasm for this work Oehme subsequently produced several replics in oil and watercolour. His main oeuvre dates back to 1845, which means the present study was created shortly before that time.
