Printed by the American Red Cross. Image of a Red Cross nurse holding a wounded soldier in her arms. Text at bottom says, "Still The Greatest Mother in the World", Fourth Red Cross Roll Call. By artist A.E. Foringer (American, 1878-1948). This was for Christmas fundraising campaign. US WWI Lithographs were used during 1917-1920 to encourage citizens to buy Liberty Bonds, special charitable appeals, conserve food and goods and enforce patriotism. Since the federal government had banned commercial radio, the posters were needed to spread these messages. Many of the works were commissioned by well-known artists of the day.
