Description

Orla de Brí (b.1965) ASPECTS OF PERSEPHONE: WINTER, 2007 signed and dated at the base bronze and honed slate (no. 4 from an edition of 5) 42 by 14cm., 16.5 by 5.5in> Maquette for sculpture at the Four Seasons Hotel, Dublin. Orla de Brí has her studio in Co. Meath where she primarily works with bronze and steel as her raw material. Her works have been included in successful public exhibitions and include such central locations as Grafton Street (Quiet Mind, 2006) in the heart of Dublin's the city centre as well as featuring in the collections of Bank of Ireland, Aer Rianta, Dublin City University, and University College Cork. De Brí's style comprises highly stylised figures merged with either elements from nature or abstract forms. The results, as expressed in this work, are meditative pieces that reflect on the human condition and our relationship with our surroundings. Aspects of Persephone: Winter is representative of de Brí's oeuvre, subtle, introspective and understated.
