Watercolor, gouache and wash over graphite, mounted on board. 225 x 335 mm. Provenance: H. Bradley Martin (his sale part III, Sotheby's New York, 8 June 1989, lot 436).

The etching made after this watercolor appeared as late 74 of volume 2 of Selby's Illustrations of British Ornithology (pub. 1819-34). 227 original drawings from the work survived and were sold at the Martin sale in 1989. The title of this, and the following lot, is taken from the etched plate.
