Item Overview

Description

Osamu Nakajima
serpentine sculpture

with base: 9.1 x 16 x 2.4 inch
without base: 15.8 x 6.1 x 1.1 inch

Osamu Nakajima (born 1937 in Nagasaki, Japan) More than 40 years ago the Asian sculptor Osamu Nakajima came to Gusen, Upper Austria, which means in Japanese language "by chance" and settled there. His sculptors can now be seen in most of the famous international museums. They belong to the first abstract works of art presented in public view in Upper Austria and Vienna. One example is the fountain sculptor for the town hall in Linz, in 1985. Nakajima belongs to those sculptors whose art work presents itself completely abstract, without any inspiration through nature or orientation through a person or an event. His sculptures are often compared with the Japanese short poems, Haikus. While Nakajima finds the quarry as his atelier, he sees in his work the realisation of the forms he sees in his dreams.

Osamu Nakajima
Plastik aus Serpentin

mit Sockel 23 x 40,5 x 6 cm
ohne Sockel 40 x 15,6 x 2,8 cm
