Otto Geigenberger(1881 Wasserburg am Inn - 1946 Ulm). Bayerische Landschaft. 1920/30 s. Watercolour and chalk. Signed lower right. On laid paper (with blindstamp Progress). 53,3 x 79,4 cm (20,9 x 31,2 in), the full sheet. Provenienz: Private collection South Germany. Otto Geigenberger, who was the brother of the graphic artist August Geigenberger, became famous for his views of cities, landscapes and flower still lifes. He trained at the Munich Applied Arts School and the Polytechnic. In Munich he lived at the so-called Painters' Castle", which provided accommodation for painters in Adalbertstraße, Schwabing, very near the Munich Art Academy. Geigenberger was a member of the Munich and Berlin Secessions as well as the Ulm Artists' Guild. His talent as a colourist is clear in the present landscape sketched with such a deft touch.
