Otto Marseus Van Schrieck (1619-1698) Dutch Butterflies and a snake in foliage and undergrowth Signed, oil on canvas, 67cm by 52.5cm
The painting has been restored in the last 50-60 years. It has been re-lined, cleaned and re-varnished. The butterflies in the bottom left hand corner have been re-touched and repainted and there are small isolated areas of other refilling of paint work. There has been some minor losses and rubbing along the exterior edges of the canvas. There is fine cracquelure throughout the brushwork.
