LITERATURE:
Kohlert-Nemeth and Vierke, Future Track (Herzogenrath 2006), illustrated p. 108

Owusu-Ankomah studied at Ghanatta College of Art in Kumasi, Ghana, before moving to Bremen, Germany in 1986, where he still lives and works. His paintings have been exhibited internationally, touring Germany, the US, the UK, Senegal, South Africa and Cuba.

He has credited Michelangelo as being a strong influence on his artwork. "It was art of the Renaissance that interested me as a youngster. Michelangelo was my Father, I was fascinated by this man. When I drew, I always had to think about him, the man truly captivated me." He has gone on to combine this early influence with geographically diverse sources such as adinkra signs from Ghana, graffiti from New York and capoeira from Brazil. The resulting canvases overlay human form and symbol, echoing the artist's belief in the harmony between nature and man.
