Considered one of the most accomplished painters of his generation, Fidakis remains true to his visual impressions of the physical world. Strong sensations of colour and light are conveyed through spontaneous compositions of pure, brilliant hues applied with swift brushstrokes. The splashes of orange of the umbrellas and building awnings focus our attention on the centre area that is framed diagonally by the overcast sky and the jewel-like colours of the sea. As fellow artist Alecos Fassianos once said to him of his work, "I believe that you hide within yourself the future and the present - the need of the soul to express reality".
