Notes

Though not much is known about Paul Aichele, his professional life is fairly well documented. He first exhibited at the Berlin Art Exhibition of 1891, and the following year he was made a member of the German Academy of Arts. He later exhibited in the Berlin exhibitions, the Crystal Palace exhibition in Munich, and the Dusseldorf Arts Exhibition. He was known for genre and allegorical figures and groups, such as Sacrifice, Girl with Snail, and Paradise Lost.
