Notes

This drawing was engraved by Jan Punt as one of a series of twelve prints recording various stage designs made for the original Amsterdam 'Schouwburg', which burned down in 1772. Though the drawing is unsigned, the print states that it is by 'P.v.Liender', which must refer to Paulus van Liender, who spent several years in Amsterdam between about 1750 and 1760; his brother, Pieter Jan, always lived in Utrecht.
