Lot 527: Per Nordquist (1770-1805)

St. James's Palace, Pall Mall beyond signed and dated 'Nordquist pinxit.1796' (on the stretcher) oil on canvas 26 x 381/4 in. (66 x 97.2 cm.) PROVENANCE with Martyn Gregory, London. NOTES Per Nordquist was a pupil of Elias Martin in Stockholm and of Regnault in Paris. The composition appears to come from a Sandby print which he could have seen with Martin who was a contemporary of Sandby's, and worked in England. He died in November 1805 in Naples.
