Peter Gourfain is a sculptor-printmaker, born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1934 and currently lives in Brooklyn, NY. He studied at Chicago Art Institute graduating with a BFA in 1956. He has taught at many prestigious universities, and he has received many commissions, including a commision to create twenty-four bronze reliefs for the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in Manhattan. His work is currently in collections at the Museum of Modern Art , NY; the Guggenheim Museum, NY; the Brooklyn Museum, NY; the Nueberger Museum, NY: and the Museum of Arts & Design (formerly the American Craft Museum), as well as in many private collections.
