Description

PETER NEWELL (American, 1862-1924). A YOUNG HERO, signed lower right, dated 1900. Inscribed in pen in the margin "Young Lambeth Jones encountered, by the trolley in the lane/ A dreadful wriggling live wire, and he killed it with his cane." Ink, with traces of graphite, on paper mounted on board. With label on reverse from Kendra Krienke Gallery, New York - Plate: 7 7/8 in. x 10 1/4 in.

Top margin folded and torn, with linen tape repair; pin holes on all corners, pencil notes in lower margin and upper right corner
