Notes

Pulham, a photographer and painter, was born on 26 June 1910 at Hampstead Garden Suburb, London. He studied at the Architectural Association School of Architecture 1927-28 and then at Worcester College, Oxford. Pulham was a leading photographer in Britain up until 1938 when he turned to painting. He became inspired by and socialised in surrealist circles throughout the 1930s and 40s.
