Peter Ward [1932-2003]: Sand Waves IV D rectangular white relief construction, signed inscribed and dated 1999 on the reverse further inscribed Studio 4, Penwith Gallery, St Ives, Cornwall, 70 x 110.5cm, within a glazed box frame. Peter Ward; sculptor, painter, teacher, was born in London and apprenticed as a pattern maker at the engineers Vickers Armstrong. He attended The Kingston School of Art and was appointed to the staff of the West Surrey College of Art & Design. During the 60s Ward worked in St Ives but it was not until the 1980s that he was able to settle there and teach at the St Ives School of Painting. In 1997 he had a major retrospective at The Penwith Gallery.
