Philip Kelly (b.1950) IN THE HEART OF THE CITY signed lower right; inscribed, dated [2003] and signed again on reverse oil on canvas 51 by 61cm., 20 by 24in. Born in Dublin and educated in England, Kelly travelled the world before arriving in Mexico city in 1983. There he combined teaching English with painting, gradually establishing himself as one of the country's top contemporary artists. In 1997 the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico city honoured him with a one-man show, and since then he has become better known to collectors in Ireland through a succession of exhibits at the Frederick Gallery in Dublin.
