There is a label on the reverse of Lovely day in Laguna which states that Philip Van Brunt was 16 years old and in the tenth grade at Chaffey Union High School, California when he painted this work. The label further states that this work was on view at Bullock's Downtown in Los Angeles, California with other works of scholastic art and photography.
