Sale, Sotheby's, London, 11 March 1987, lot 30

Peter Borsselaer (or Bustler) was recorded as living in England from 1664-1679. In 1681 he was in The Hague and between 1684 and 1687 he was working in Middelburg painting chimneypieces. His few certain portraits, notably those of the antiquary, Sir William Dugdale, and his wife (private collection) have been noted for their seriousness and concern for individual character.
