PROVENANCE

With Gebr. Douwes, Amsterdam, from whom bought by the Herwegs in 1981 at the Delft Art Fair.

NOTE

Best known for his pure still lifes of fresh-water, this is a delightful and excellently preserved example of De Putter's rare fisherman's interiors. The old angler himself is seen in his fisherman's woollen hat carrying a tub of water.
