Condition:
The painting is in good, restored condition. Retouches can be found in the upper and lower corner of the left side. The surface was varnished new. The edges are provided with a revolving paper mount. The frame is bumped in places. The dimensions of the canvas are 49.1 x 39.6 cm. Including the frame the painting measures 60.5 x 52 cm. (bde)

Pieter Nason (1612-1688)
In 1639, Pieter Nason was admitted in St. Luke’s Guild of The Hague. Of his apprenticeship is not known, except that he was presumably a student of Jan Anthoniszoon van Ravesteyn. In 1656, he was co-founder of the Guild of ‘Confrérie Pictura‘. He has worked at the electoral court in Berlin around 1666. (bde)
