Mathieu 1838, on the backing cardboard on label inscribed 'Portail de la Cathédrale à Worms - Bavière Rhénane', matted a. framed under glass, uninspected out of frame. - French landscape a. architectural painter, pupil of P. L. Cicéri, exhibited at the Paris Salon 1833-59, in 1859 he was made Chevalier of the Legion d'Honneur. Besides landscapes a. figure paintings he painted churches of the Rhineland a.
