Description

These U.S. Model 1803 Rifles were manufactured from 1803-1807 and 1814-1820. Barrel is 36 inches round part octagon with fixed front brass sight and a fixed rear sight. The rifle barrel, receiver, breechblock, hammer and frizzen are brown. The left barrel flat is marked "US" and "eagle head" over "P" in small ovals. "V/AT" on the left receiver in front of some undistinguishable carvings. The lock plate is marked: "HARPERS / FERRY / 1819" and eagle with shield symbol between the hammer and flash pan. The rifle has brass furniture and patchbox. Metal ramrod with brass trumpet tip and threaded end. The stock is oil finished walnut.
