Born in Ramat Gan, Israel in 1970, Gal Weinstein studied Theater and Set Design at the Tel Aviv University between 1992-1993 and then studied at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem, 1993-1997. Exhibiting since 1997, Weinstein rapidly became one of Israel's most prominent young artists and in 2002 he represented Israel at the 25^th International Biennial of São Paolo.
Weinstein's work is characterized by a sensitivity to material and space, preoccupation with surface via inferior synthetic materials, camouflage and substitutes, and a fundamental ambivalence regarding the potential political content implied by the work
