RAEBURN VAN BUREN (1891-1987). Originally a magazine illustrator, he illustrated the comic strip Abbie an' Slats for over 40 years since the 1930s. Approached by Al Capp, who wrote the script, Van Buren's name is most closely associated with the Sunday strip. Fantastic archive of over 365 original three-panel cartoon strips drawn by Van Buren for United Features Syndicate, overall approx 21"x7" each, 1948-1970. Generally in near Fine condition, several with penciled annotations on bottom border or on verso. A comic strip collector's treasure trove.
