Notes

This painting is sold with accompanying documentation that reads in part: "This painting is a representation of a huge rock which was placed high on the side of a cliff by Dreamtime men. The rock is shown as the big black piece in the upper part of the picture. Two roads lead up the cliff in the direction of the rock on either side. It is in part of the artist's country near Elgee Cliffs which is called Barlngarndin by Gija and Saddlers Jump Up by Europeans. The artist spent most of his life working as a stockman and often used to look up at the rock when mustering on the flat country below. All kinds of animals such as rock wallabies, echidnas, dingoes and emu live here."
