Reto Kern (b. 1958)
The Swiss Reto Kern was born in 1958 and attended the Art School at St. Gallen. What followed were two apprenticeships, one as interior designer and one as lithographer. He worked as an employee of Urban Stoob and at the Erker-Galerie, St. Gallen. In both trained fields, Kern has established himself freelance. The focus of his art is the human being, often displayed in soft, highly abstracted and elongated forms. His works have been shown in numerous Swiss exhibitions, for example on 1992 at the Kulturzentrum Ziegelhütte, Appenzell, or in 1990 at the Galerie vor der Klostermauer in St. Gallen. (nlu)
