Richard Principal Leitch (Scottish 1827-1882)- Italian mountain lake scene, watercolour, signed and dated lower left 1870, 26 x 44cm Born in Glasgow, Leitch started exhibiting marine subjects at the Royal Academy in 1844. In 1859 he took over his father's role as drawing master to the Queen. He was an active illustrator and his work was often published in the Illustrated London News. Examples of his work can be found in the Royal Collection, British Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum
