Rick Bentham (b. 1950) RELAXING BY THE POND, POWERSCOURT, COUNTY WICKLOW oil on canvas signed lower right; with title inscribed on reverse 41 by 51cm., 16 by 20in. Bentham who currently lives and works in County Wicklow, is Irish Canadian and graduated from Vancouver College of Art in 1977. His work has been well received in his native Canada where he received the Canada Council Award for a series of paintings based on Canadian Indian Mythology. Bentham has also worked in animation in the US with directors such as Stephen Spielberg. His current work is dominated by the Irish landscape and its people as evident in this work.
